Notes, decisions, and progress on my journey as I build Project Sidekick — built in the open; written as it happens.

No Do-overs — An Anti-Abandonment Algorithm

This algorithm is designed to prevent me from abandoning projects or starting over from scratch when things get difficult or convoluted. A design that is perfect today will soon be imperfect as it evolves to support more features. Starting over only kicks off another phase of the "perfect-start-soon-to-be-imperfect" cycle. This vicious cycle is the source of wasted effort, frustration, hopelessness, and a stained image as an innovator. Beautiful ideas and visions never get to see the light of day, staying forever trapped in my head.

A painful reality is always better than a blissful fantasy

Ideas without a concrete plan for execution lead to frustration, self-doubt, helplessness, and grandiosity. The longer I delay, the more pain I go through and the more I regret not taking action. It is time to find out whether my ideas really have substance and if I have what it takes to execute and lead.

Start today

I will find ways to do the things I want every day. I will not wait for the ideal time or the perfect opportunity that may never come. Slow progress is better than no progress at all.
